Social media post portends Walhalla hotel
A momentous development appears in the offing for Walhalla. Sources of 101.7/WGOG NEWS say a Georgia husband and wife are acquiring a former school building to renovate into a boutique-style hotel of 20 rooms. The building, now owned by the Center for the Performing Arts, parallels N. College Street at N. Broad. As late as 40-50 years ago was used as a Walhalla middle school. In recent years, it was home to a conservatory for the arts. Brandon Burton, city administrator, says city officials are aware of the project, having taken part in a Zoom meeting about what’s called the future “Old Oconee Inn”.
