“SNAP” recipients eligible for free pantry items

Oconee County residents who receive “SNAP” benefits are eligible for approximately one week’s worth of free food for their families.  SNAP stands for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, the current day term for what used to be called food stamps.  To qualify for the free food, bring your I-D and that of  other your other household members, and proof that you live in Oconee and go to the Golden Corner Food Pantry at 635 Business Park Drive, Seneca (near Seneca High School) during the pantry’s regular time and days.  The pantry is open 10 am to noon Monday through Friday and the first Saturday of the month.  Mondays are reserved for seniors 60 and over.  The free food available includes meat, bread, desserts, fruit, produce, milk, eggs, canned good, pasta, mac and cheese, and cereal.
