Small plane crash into Lake Hartwell was fatal

Dive crews worked yesterday to retrieve a small airplane that crashed Saturday into Lake Hartwell.  But guesstimates are that it could take a couple of days to untangle from trees a Beechcraft B55.  The Hart County, Georgia sheriff says the only occupant of that small plane did not survive.  The crash scene described as near Elrod Ferry and the Long Point Recreation Area.  Lake Hartwell Radio WLHR at Lavonia quotes a local airport official as saying one witness saw the plane spiral into the water.  The plane was headed to the Anderson County, South Carolina airport.
