Sheriff’s Office to lend a hand to a veteran in need

A new agreement between the Oconee Sheriff’s Office and Upstate Warrior Solution will offer a helping hand to a veteran who gets in trouble with the law.  Announced yesterday, the agreement will work one of two ways.  If a veteran commits a crime and is arrested by a law enforcement agency in Oconee County, his or her information will be sent directly to Upstate Warrior Solution.  In turn, that group will send a representative to the county detention center for a visit with the veteran.  Secondly, if contact is made with a veteran in a non-arrest or non-criminal situation, the deputy may inquire of the veterans if they’d like a contact by Upstate Warrior for assistance.  Sheriff Mike Crenshaw said, “At the Sheriff’s Office, we respect and honor what our veterans have done and continue to do to keep our country free.  The partnership with Upstate Warrior Solution continues our efforts to partner with our citizens and organizations to help promote a safer community and to be able to provide veterans with the assistance they need.”
