Sheriff tracks the virus numbers

The Oconee County sheriff makes it a habit to follow the numbers of COVID-19 death and cases and, so far, is pleased that when compared to surrounding counties, Oconee’s numbers are low. The latest is 22 cases and still no deaths, as confirmed by South Carolina DHEC. None of those 22 cases, Crenshaw says, include members of his office. As for Oconee County overall, Crenshaw said, “Twenty-two is not the best number. We want it to be lower than that. One bordering county, Stephens in northeast Georgia, has counted 70 cases. “What folks are doing in Oconee4 County is working remarkably well,” the sheriff said. He spoke this morning to JoAnn Johnson, executive director of the Oconee Chamber of Commerce.
