Sewer system improvements across Oconee

The board that sets the policy for Oconee’s Coneross Wastewater Treatment Plant signed off on projects last night by approving contractors’ bids. The projects include enhancing capabilities within the eastern end of the Joint Regional Sewer Authority’s service area near Clemson. One of them guarantees service to the group that is planning the EPOCH student housing complex off 123 behind the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks. In another project, the JRSA commissioners agreed to spend $287 thousand on a design-build project in which the company McCormick and Wallace will place a bar screen at the Cane Creek pumping station. According to Chris Eleazer, executive director of the JRSA, the mechanical bar screen will save wear and tear on the pump and reduce of overflows in the Walhalla area.
