Sewer money “inadvertently spent”

“Inadvertently spent” was the term used by a Walhalla councilman to explain what happened to a portion of the city’s sewer refund from the Joint Regional Sewer Authority.  In making that announcement last night, Councilman Keith Pace spoke in his capacity as chairman of the city budget and general government committees.  Pace says an investigation by the interim administrator and the city clerk will seek to determine the amount spent.  When the JRSA refunded excess revenues last year to Walhalla and its other member cities, it was done so with the understanding that the funds were to be applied to sewer improvements within the city’s service area.
