Sewer committee to meet a second time

A committee of the Joint Regional Sewer Authority has now scheduled a second meeting next week apparently in the hopes of finding a resolution to a complex issue that divides the JRSA and its member city Walhalla. An hour and a half of talks Monday failed to settle a proposal to return monies held in banks to the three cities—Walhalla, Seneca, and Westminster. The idea is the brainchild of Scott Moulder, the Seneca city administrator who is a member of the JRSA’s policy-making board. But Walhalla officials, led by Mayor Danny Edwards, are worried the letting loose millions of dollars will hamstring needed infrastructure improvements throughout the system and could lead to higher bills to their retail customers. Next week’s meeting of the JRSA’s facilities and administrative committee will take place at 4 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the Westminster City Hall.
