Severe weather impacts blood collections

The weekend storm forced the Blood Connection’s 13 donation centers to close, and blood collection drives across the Upstate of South Carolina and North Carolina were cancelled.  The result has been Blood Connection’s inability to collect the needed 800 units of a blood a day to supply hospitals across the Carolinas (including Oconee Memorial) and Georgia.  As soon as possible, the public is urged to donate blood to ensure hospital needs are uninterrupted.  Appointments are encouraged but not mandatory. To host a blood drive, call 864/751-5003.
