“Several weeks” before the vaccine can be available

South Carolina state health officials are addressing reports today that two major drug researchers could soon produce a vaccine ready to be administered, provided the necessary safety and efficacy standards are met.  The health officials are holding a media briefing in which they address a variety of questions about the number of doses to be required, who gets top priority for the vaccine, where it’s to be administered and what, if any cost, there will be to the general public.  101.7/WGOG NEWS is replaying lengthy portions of what Dr. Linda Bell, state epidemiologist, and two of her colleagues are having to say.  We recommend that you tune in to the 12 pm and 5 pm local news today, along with the 7 and 8 local news tomorrow morning to hear more.
