Seven years later, Tucker Hipps’ death still unexplained

A private donor is putting up $50 thousand reward money for information that helps law enforcement solve the death of a Clemson student from seven years ago.  Today is the 7th anniversary of the still unexplained death of Tucker Hipps, a fraternity pledge who embarked on a pre-dawn run along SC 93 across the bridge into Oconee County.  His body was found in Lake Hartwell.  Sheriff Crenshaw says the $50 thousand reward money will remain in effect thru December 31, and authorities appeal for information that will allow the Hipps’ family to gain closure.  Not far from where the body of student Hipps was found was the earlier discovery of the body of another Clemson student, although the known circumstances surrounding Brooke Holsonback’s death in 1997 were separate from the Hipps’ case.  Nevertheless, the Oconee Sheriff’s Office keeps the Holsonback case an active investigation, for which there remains a reward for the right information.
