Seneca recognizes a former mayor

A surprise visitor to Seneca City Hall last night delighted the city’s leaders, especially Ronnie O’Kelley, the mayor pro-tem.  A mayor from long ago, Lyn Norton, was in the audience in support of the city-assisted project to spruce up the 100-year old Ballenger House, which is home to a number of women’s clubs.  O’Kelley noted Norton’s appearance saying, he first gained a city council seat in the same election that Norton won as mayor.  Among other things, Norton is remembered as the city’s walking mayor.  She convened Saturday morning walks around the city in an effort to see things up close and engender comments from interested constituents who’d spot the mayor in their neighborhood.
