Seneca inventor has idea to solve energy needs

In a long life, Seneca’s Curt Davis enjoyed a 41-year military career and managed a business and, while in the military, invented a night goggle vision device. He also had a brush in show business as an Elvis Presley impersonator. But he considers himself to be an inventor, says he is working on one particular invention, about which he won’t anything more now. At his Rotary Club meeting today, Davis introduced an idea to Duke Energy’s Eddie Anderson about how a readily available resource could solve the world’s need for electricity. It’s the ocean which washes thousands of tons of water daily. By drawing that water, Davis believes, coastal re-generating facilities could create the amounts of electricity to meet the needs between now and 2050 when just about everything, he says, will require electricity to operate. Duke’s Anderson took note of Davis’s suggestion. As for the generation of electricity, the three-unit Oconee Nuclear Station is one facility that Duke plans to not only to maintain thru its current license, but announced recently that it will file for a second, 20-year renewal beyond the years 2033-34.
