Seneca-Coneross Power Corporation negotiations

Scott Moulder, the Seneca city administrator, says he has had “positive discussions” with the company that operates a small hydro-electric power plant near the city limits toward a continuing relationship between the two parties. As the only retail customer of the Coneross Power Corporation, Seneca buys a small amount of electricity which it re-sells to the grid as a way to lower the city’s reliance on its primary supplier, South Carolina Public Service Authority’s Santee Cooper at Moncks Corner. Moulder raised concerns recently to the mayor and council about flooding from an April storm that disabled the plant off SC 59. “We’re looking at certain improvement to the plant and I’m curious about how those are going to work, Moulder told 10.7/WGOG NEWS last night. Discussions between the two parties continues.
