Senate vote strengthens Victims Crime law

Democrats and Republicans haven’t agreed on what to spend to fix the country’s rotting infrastructure, but they do agree on spending more for victims of crime.  Just, as increased crime numbers are becoming more pronounced, the Senate unanimously approved re-directing monetary penalties from federal prosecutions into the Crime Victims Fund.   Senator Lindsey Graham said, “In South Carolina, groups who provide services to victims of crime, particularly children, have experienced a reduction in funding.  This bill replenishes the Crime Victims Fund and will require future funding to go into the Fund rather than the general Treasury.”
