Seed library opens in Westminster

In memory of an avid gardener and a founder of the Lazy Daisy Garden Club, a seed library has opened in Westminster.  The Westminster Library and the Oconee History Museum are providing the Betty B. Watkins Seed Library as a vehicle for Oconeeans to receive garden seeds at no charge.  In this new venture, a seed library will allow information sharing, culture sharing, food diversity, money-saving, seed preservation and sustainability.  At both the Westminster Library and at the Oconee History Museum in Walhalla, county residents may choose up to 10 free packs of seeds.  Each contains enough to grow 3 to 5 plants.  Included are a variety of late summer and fall seeds including lettuce, peppers, herbs, and flowers.
