Security upgrades accomplished at Pine Street

Security upgrades have been accomplished at Oconee County’s Pine Street administrative complex—thanks to a cooperative effort between the Sheriff’s Office and the County Council. Those upgrades include the installation of security cameras and the presence of a deputy sheriff as a full-time security officer for the complex. According to Sheriff Mike Crenshaw, part of Deputy Steve Wessendorf’s duties will be a presence in the hallway of the county treasurer’s office during tax collection season now underway. Crenshaw says, “Ms. Brock (county administrator Amanda Brock) has had security cameras installed along with staffing the deputy are two steps taken so far to increase security at the county complex.” The sheriff further announced: “We also now have a pill drop box over there (in the hallway of the treasurer, auditor, and assessor) where citizens can bring and dispose of old medications when they come to pay their taxes.”
