Second line break found, advisory back on

The discovery of a second water line blow out this morning has forced Walhalla to re-institute the boil advisory that was lifted late yesterday afternoon. Scott Parris, utilities superintendent, says this second break also occurred Sunday but was not discovered until this morning. The location is about 200 feet from where the first break was found early Sunday. The boil advisory applies to much of Walhalla’s water service area to the north of the city, including Walhalla High School. The advisory calls for those impacted to vigorously boil water at least one full minute before using for cooking or drinking. According to Parris, crews are making repairs, but sample testing will be needed before the new advisory can be repealed. In spite of a new day of boil water advisory, Walhalla High School is coping. According to Steve Hanvey, associate county superintendent, water is being boiled in the school cafeteria and the district is supplying botted water for students and staff.
