Second day of prescribed burning

Crews from the U-S Forest Service are engaged for a second day in a prescribed burn. This one is to start at 11 this morning and consume 545 acres on Buzzard Roost Mountain, for the purpose of fuel reduction and wildlife habitats. The forecast calls for the smoke to drift in the direction of Salem, a distance of 12 miles. March is South Carolina Prescribed Fire Awareness Month, as declared by Governor McMaster.
