SDOC Accepting Free Lunch Applications

The School District of Oconee County is currently accepting applications for free and reduced lunch for the upcoming school year.

According to Gloria Moore, Chief Financial Officer, a new application is required each school year and last year’s eligibility is good for 30 days in the new school year but when the grace period expires, the price defaults to the paid price, unless the parent applies and is approved for a free or reduced-price.

Some of the criteria involved in regards to qualifying for free or reduced lunch include household income, as well as the number of children and adults in the household.

Parents can apply anytime during the school year, in case the financial situation changes.  Only one application per family is necessary and parents should list all students on one application.

Applications in both English and Spanish are available at the School District of Oconee County website and according to a release from the School District; it is the quickest and easiest way to apply.

Free breakfast and lunch is available for all grades.  Reduced cost for breakfast for all grades is 30 cents a day while reduced lunch costs are 40 cents per day for all grades.

Full costs for breakfast for all grades is $1.45 cents per day while full lunch costs for elementary school students is $2.20 a day and full costs for lunch for middle and high school students is $2.40 a day.
