The South Carolina High School League approved the use of a 35-second shot clock for non-region games on a trial basis for the next two years.  The league’s executive committee issued final approval for the shot clock’s use on Wednesday.  A proposal to the league to implement the use of a universal shot clock for all regular season and post-season games beginning in 4A and 5A in the 2026-2027 school year was declined.  Its use will need to be agreed upon by both teams.  A shot clock was used this past season at an invitational tournament in which the SCHSL teams participated.  The league also announced it is keeping both its basketball state semi-finals and championship games at the Florence Center.  Both rounds for Upper State and Lower State teams were played in that arena for the first time this year, much to the chagrin expressed on social media.  The SCHSL also announced it will keep its football championship games at O.C. Dawson Bulldog Stadium at SC State in Orangeburg.
