Schools advertise construction manager services

Companies interested in working as construction manager at risk for the Oconee public schools are invited next month to submit RFPs—sealed requests for proposals.  Two companies—J-Davis and Trehel—serve currently in those capacities, but district administrator Steve Hanvey says, “We are required to do a new proposal every 5 years.  There are a couple of waivers you can request that we used to extend our agreements with Trehel and J Davis for CM At-risk to 8 years.  We did the same thing for our A&E contracts with Jumper, Carter, Sease and McMillan, Pazden, and Smith.”  However, other interested companies have the chance to provide proposals for a chance to win the contract.  Regardless of where the contracts will lay, Hanvey says, Trehel will remain the general contractor and Jumper, Carter, Sease, the architect and engineer firm for the current building project in the district—the replacement Seneca Middle School.
