School trustees had football on their minds

The trustees of Oconee public schools made quick work of their meeting last night. They moved along quickly on discussion of a new school calendar and a report on the construction of the new career center. And they decided there would be no closed session. All of this to ensure that they and those in the audience would get home in plenty of time to watch the national title game. Board Chairman Jerry Lee took a moment to kid David Thompson, the principal of Fair-Oak Elementary School, about being a South Carolina Gamecock fan in Clemson Tiger country. Thompson took Lee’s kidding graciously, but had his own retort. To help show that he personally was not rooting against Clemson, Thompson introduced a short video in which Clemson Coach Swinney congratulated Fair-Oak Elementary for making academic strides.
