School trustees drop one mill tax hike request

A showdown with Oconee County Council has apparently been averted by a vote last night by the county school trustees. Jerry Lee, the trustees chairman, says the board decided unanimously to go forward with its local funding request without a one-mill tax increase. “We received a little better information (about revenue projections) and in reviewing the budget again, we feel we can forego the one mill tax increase and ask for the same millage we did last year,” Lee said commenting this morning on the board’s regular meeting last night.
