School opening “running smoothly”

First word from Oconee School District is that the start of the delayed school year this morning is running smoothly.  Spokeswoman Jennifer Dodd says, “District administrators are out and about visiting schools this morning.  They have said things are running smoothly across schools — students are excited to see their teachers; they are wearing masks without issue.  Our teachers and staff are excited to see their students for the first time in 5 months.  Traffic for the most part has not been an issues.  The biggest concern this morning has been with technology, as we anticipated with student devices having been at home since March.  Our technology department is working to answer questions for SDOC@Home students as quickly as possible, as well as assisting schools with face-to-face students.”  The district plans to update this report as the day progresses.
