School counselor arrested

A woman from the Pickens County town of Central has been arrested on the charge of failing to report child abuse or neglect while working as a guidance counselor at the Oconee School District’s Fair-Oak Elementary School. The arrest of Amy Maria Millspaugh was made by the Oconee Sheriff’s Office. Officer Tim Rice signed an arrest warrant alleging that “…on or about March 9, 2018, in the County of Oconee, one Amy Maria Millspaugh, while acting in her professional capacity as a guidance counselor employed at Fair-Oak Elementary, received information which gave her reason to believe that a six-year old child has been or may be abused or neglected as defined in SC Section 63-7-20, and did fail to adequately report the allegations orally by telephone or otherwise to the Department of Social Services or to a law enforcement agency where the child resides or was found….”
