SAM CHRISTOPHER      

Iva – Jake Samuel “Sam” Christopher, Jr., 78, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Cottingham Hospice House.

 

Sam was the son of the late Jake Samuel Christopher, Sr., and Blanche “Oba” Ellison Christopher.   Sam retired from Roadway Express, as a truck driver, after 31 years of service.  Sam was always saying, “The Lord is driving this truck”. Sam was an active sportsman who enjoyed being outdoors and sports.   He loved taking care of and riding his horses, camping, and going on wagon trains with his friends and family.

 

Sam is survived by his companion and best friend, Pete Sheriff; son, Jody Christopher (Sandy) of Duncan; daughters, Susan Prince (Rick) and Robin Clark (Cesar) of Gray Court; siblings, Betty Kellet (late John) of Belton, Steven Christopher (Mary) of Belton, Pam Trout (Doug) of Chesnee; sister-in-law, “Cookie” Christopher of Greenville; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

 

In addition to his parents, Sam is preceded in death by his sister Joan Kelly (Late Furman); and his brother, Doug Christopher.

 

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm, Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery.  Sam will lie in state from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm prior to the service at Sandifer Funeral Home,
