Salem to get $356k of street and sidewalk work

Sam Dickson and Dick Cottingham, in their capacity as members of Oconee’s state “C” Fund Committee, welcomed and approved the town of Salem request today to make street and sidewalk improvements.  A third committee member, Tally Grant, was absent from this morning’s meeting. Town Clerk Marti Jennings says the approval of $356 thousand, 300 dollars should be enough to repair sidewalk cracks, re-surface Barkdale Drive, and fix a flooding issue affecting the fire and rescue department on Main Street.  Jennings says the money will also cover repairs to a town landmark—the rock retainer wall on Main Street.
