Rusty Cater unapologetic

The new mayor pro-tem in Westminster feels he owes no one an apology for being pro-active when it comes to asking Oconee County for financial help for his money-tight city. This was one of the positions that Rusty Cater felt compelled last night to explain during the March meeting of the city council. “Brad (fellow Councilman Brad Chastain) made a phone call. Julian Davis (County Council Chairman) said, ‘Sure, I’ll be willing to talk to you about anything. Come on up here…’” Those Cater comments helped explain how a meeting last week came about between Davis, County Administrator Amanda Brock and Cater and two other city councilmen. That meeting led to a vote last night by county council to approve $50 thousand to fund a study needed for Westminster to apply for a grant designed to help stop major water losses throughout the city system. Circumstances are such, Cater believes, no one needs to apologize for pressing county government to help the county’s third largest municipality.
