ROBERT ALLEN

Walhalla – Robert “Bob” Eugene Allen, 74, husband of Trudy Underwood Allen, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at the Cottingham Hospice House surrounded by his loving family.

 

Born June 25th, 1949, in Rutherfordton, North Carolina, Bob was the son of the late Deraus Robert and Sarah Estelle Ward Allen.  Bob served in the United States Army with the 101st Calvary during the Vietnam Conflict and retired from the United States Forest Service with the Andrew Pickens Ranger District, Sumter National Forest. He was a former assistant funeral director at Davenport Funeral Home and later at Sandifer Funeral Home, and a former Scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop 129.  He was a Christian and a member of the Cecil Sandifer Sunday School Class, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his kids and grandchildren.

 

Bob is survived his wife, Trudy Underwood Allen of 35 years, and his children, Chris Allen (Zoraida Reinat) of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Barry Underwood (Jessi) of Walhalla, Brian Allen (Tammy) of Westminster, and Tracie A. Kennedy (Marc) of Forest City, North Carolina; sister, Kay Deyton (Harry) of Gilkey, North Carolina; grandchildren, Melly G. Rice, Erik Gonzalez (Monique), Levi Underwood, Samantha Allen, Landon Allen, Lane Allen, Bryden Kennedy, Addyson Kennedy; five great-grandchildren, Sofia, Cashlynn, Lainey, Whitley, Noeli “Nini”; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and special friends.

 

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Janice Walsh Allen.

 

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, January 21st, 2024 at Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow, with full Military Honors, at First Baptist Memorial Park.   The body will lie in state 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Saturday, January 20th, 2024, at Sandifer Funeral Home.
