Road fee suggested as an answer to a Walhalla money need

Whether you call it a fee or a tax, a suggestion that’s included in the proposed new budget for Walhalla would create a fund for the city to pay for transportation and infrastructure projects. The suggestion received by the mayor and the council at their budget workshop is a $30 dollar annual road fee that would be paid by the owners of about three thousand motor vehicles registered to Walhallans. That fee could generate $90 thousand a year and be used for costs related to roads, drainage, sidewalks, greenways, and bike paths.
