Ride to Work Ministry dents the Oconee jobless rate

Even though the unemployment rate is a modern-time low, there are jobs out there. A non-profit organization in Oconee reported some success in helping fill those jobs. The Ride To Work Ministry offers temporary rides for $5 dollars to those who want to work but don’t have transportation. According to the Ride To Work Ministry’s Steve Finger, transportation is arranged thru the Uber rider service, but donations are accepted to help meet costs. Finger told the business forum of the Oconee Economic Alliance that, so far, 25 riders have graduated from the program—meaning they’ve kept their employment and have no found their own ways to work.
