Richard Payne

Walhalla – Richard Allen Payne, 81, husband of Jean Snead Payne, died Wednesday, August 12th, 2020 at AnMed Health Center.

 

Born in McLeansboro, IL, Richard was the son of the late Robert Ulysses and Harriet Lasher Payne. Richard was a retired educator and was a US Marine Corps Veteran, having served 11 years during the Vietnam War, as a Pilot, ranking as a Captain. Richard enjoyed making pottery, building furniture and toys for his grandchildren, was an avid gardener, who also enjoyed Jeopardy and crossword puzzles. Richard was a member of the Seneca DAV, and volunteered at the DAR school.

 

Richard is survived by his wife, Jean Snead Payne of 55 years; sons, Edward Allen Payne (Carla) of Lawrenceville, GA, Samuel Nicholas Payne of Westminster, Fredrick Arnold Payne (Tammy) Seneca, Frazer Bennett Payne (Kimberly) Seneca; five grandchildren, Robby Payne, Cameron Payne, Breanna Payne, Caitlin Payne, Ayden Payne; and two great grandchildren, Addison and Weston Payne.

 

In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his siblings; brothers, John Payne, James Payne, Larry Payne and sister, Thelma Rubenacker.  

 

 A memorial service will be held 11 am, Monday, August 17th, 2020 in the Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel with full military honors to follow.
