Rev. Thomas Watson
Arcadia, FL- Reverend Thomas Howard Watson, 87, husband of Florine Gaines Watson, passed away on March 30th, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Greenville, South Carolina, Thomas was the son of the late Ralph and Berthie Cooley Watson. Thomas was saved on October 5th, 1964 at 4:10 pm at Faith Baptist Church in Cateechee, South Carolina. He spent 2 years at Midway Baptist Church in Sewanee, Tennessee from 1971 to 1973. Following that he preached at Clearmont Baptist Church from 1974 to 1977. In 1977 he founded Souls Harbor Baptist Church where he preached until he retired. Thomas had a passion for Nascar, fishing, and he was an avid Clemson fan.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Florine; son, Drake Watson (Sandra Howard) of Central, SC; daughters, Melenia Watson of Arcadia, FL, Tammy Moore (Wayne) of Loris, SC, Darlene Johnson (Ray) of Arcadia, FL; sisters, June Godfrey of Piedmont, SC; 5 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph Watson, and Billy Welborn Watson.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 4th, 2024 at Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends and family from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service at Sandifer Funeral Home.
