Retiring chief might run for office

Rory Jones, the nine-year chief of police in Westminster, will retire, but maybe not completely.  Jones has had a long law enforcement career that included stops in Seneca and Walhalla.  Westminster’s first-year city administrator Kevin Bronson said of Jones:  “Chief Jones was the first department head I met with on my first day in Westminster, he was forthright, cordial and professional.  Since that first meeting he has continued to epitomize those characteristics.”  Jones says most of his adult life has been spent in law enforcement and he has missed a lot of time with his family.  But he may consider another career.  Jones has had long interest in the job of Oconee Probate Judge (an office held by Kenny Johns) and he indicates he’ll make a decision on whether to run for the office.
