Results of two elections certified

A board of canvassers has given its approval to the results of elections held Saturday in Oconee County and on Tuesday in Walhalla. The county election commissioners, acting as canvassers, certified the results of both the Democratic Presidential primary last Saturday and the special Walhalla council seat election held Tuesday. Keith Pace’s official winning vote for an unexpired term on the Walhalla City Council was left at 28 votes. There were three write-in votes cast. This morning the board added a total of six failsafe and provisional ballots to the Presidential primary totals. The six added ballots changed none of the orders of finish, but four Presidential hopefuls saw their final Oconee totals increase by between 1 and 2 votes. Amy Klobuchar, who dropped out of the race Monday, received two additional votes. Elizabeth Warren received one while Oconee and South Carolina winner Joe Biden picked up one vote. Second place finisher Bernie Sanders also received one more vote. The final summary of primary voting gave Biden a winning percentage in Oconee of 37.60% and Sanders an even 24%. A total of 5,800 Oconeeans cast ballots.
