Restaurant workers rewarded with $50 tips

A Walhalla restaurant’s busy drive-thru has only gotten busier during the COVID-19 pandemic. The added business, however, means increased work for the cooks and the order takers at Bantam Chef. But their work has not gone without appreciation. A man and his wife showed their appreciation last week by surprising Bantam Chef owner Tina Chastain with an envelope of money with the instructions that she was to give each of her employees a $50 dollar bill, which she did right away. The money came from the couple’s stimulus checks. Chastain was moved to tears and so were her employees. Because, as she put, it, it shows the kindness of the couple and reflects well that there is caring in the community. Chastain said, “The last few weeks have been hard on everyone, but when something like this happens you know God is still handing out blessings every day.”
