Repeated sex offenses send Long Creek woman to prison

Four years in prison and sex offender registry are in front of a Long Creek woman.  Janice Allen, at the age of 36, was arrested last spring by the Oconee Sheriff’s Office and charged with multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor and disseminating harmful material to a minor.  She entered guilty pleas today in front of General Sessions Judge Cordell Maddox.  Jason Alderman, deputy solicitor, said Allen had sex with a minor who, at the time, ranged in age from 10 to 15 years old, and disseminated to the victim graphic materials, personal photographs and video recordings.  The investigation that led to Allen’s arrest May 25 was started after a school resource officer received reports of sexual offenses.  Lawyer David Plowden spoke on Allen’s behalf and said she’s “a good mother, has a great work history, and the sex incidents are the first serious trouble in her life.   Subtracted from her four-year prison term will be credit for 123 days spent in jail awaiting her day in court.
