Redistricting committee to hold Greenville hearing

The public is invited to communicate with the state committee working on redistricting South Carolina, as the result of the population numbers gathered during the census of last year.  A public hearing designed for residents of Oconee, Pickens and Anderson counties is scheduled early next month in Greenville.  For those interested, this hearing will take place at 6 o’clock Monday evening, August 2 in the Greenville County Council Chambers at 301 University Ridge, Greenville.  Districts for the South Carolina General Assembly and the U-S House of Representatives are redrawn every 10 years, to meet requirements of state and federal law. The process is designed to ensure that the elected members of the two legislative chambers are elected from districts with approximately the same population.
