Redistributing maintenance costs within sewer authority

Redistributing the cost burden of maintaining the collector system within the Oconee Joint Regional Sewer Authority is now deemed a worthwhile topic for discussion by the members of the JRSA’s policy-making board.  Tally Grant, the Walhalla-Westminster designee, sought to bring the discussions yesterday to an end until the next time by saying, “Let’s think about it some more.”  The idea to make member cities responsible for costs inside their service area has been pushed in recent months by Walhalla members, who feel it unfair for their city to pay costs for services that do not directly benefit them.  Yesterday’s discussions come at a time of considering service extension to planned apartment housing between Seneca and Clemson, with the developers offering to pay some of the costs.  More on this story can be heard today on 101.7/WGOG.
