Recruiting citizen weather watchers

The South Carolina climate office is recruiting citizen observers for a grassroots, volunteer network of backyard weather observers.  People of all ages and backgrounds are invited to join what’s called the Community Collaborative, Rain, Hail and Snow Network.  The program now numbers 350 observers who report daily rainfall and the occasional snowfall.  Seventy of the 350 have been with the program since it spread to South Carolina in 2008.  In spite of hundreds of weather watchers who are active, there are still some parts of the state where there are no observers.  To become an observer, visit www.cocorahs.org.
