Realtors offer help to tornado victms

The Western Upstate Association of REALTORS applied, and has been awarded, a$150,000.00 grant from the REALTORS Relief Foundation of the National Association of REALTORS. This disaster relief grant is for the purpose of providing housing assistance to the families impacted by the tornado disaster in Oconee and Pickens Counties. The maximum applicant grant amount is capped at $1,000.00 per household. You do not need to be a REALTOR or family of a REALTOR to receive this assistance. Any household that has been impacted can apply.  Assistance is available to qualified applicants to be used towards one of the following:

 

1)     Monthly Mortgage expense for the primary residence that was damaged by the Tornado Disaster.

 

2)     Rental cost due to displacement from the primary residence resulting from the Tornado Disaster.

 

There are several ways to receive the application:

 

1)               Call 864-224-7941 and an application will be mailed to you with the details.

 

2)               On June 1,2, & 3 from the hours of 1-5 pm REALTORS & Staff will be on hand to personally assist with the applications at Lake Keowee Real Estate, 896 North  Walnut Street, Seneca, SC 29678 (in the back-parking lot)

Applicants MUST bring the following with you:

 

·       Photo Identification to Show Proof of Residency ( i.e., driver’s license or other governmental documentation evidencing residency.

·       ONE of the following is required to show proof of damage to your primary residence:

Photos of Damage, Insurance Estimates, Copies of Written Claims, Settlement Proceeds or

Claim Status Reports, Copies of Repair Estimates from Contractors. Please bring a copy of

your Mortgage Statement or Mortgage Payment Coupon, Rent Statement or Lease

Please note this assistance is for housing relief only; other expenses including second mortgages (home equity loans or loans), clothing, appliances, equipment, vehicle purchase, rental or repair and/or mileage are ineligible for reimbursement under this program.    NAR first launched the REALTORS Relief Foundation (RRF) as the REALTORS Relief  Fund in 2001, within hours of the devastating Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks raising more than $8.4 Million to aid so that surviving families could stay in their homes.
