Rash of crime in Ebenezer community

A sheriff’s officer has advice for homeowners in the Ebenezer Community of Oconee County: Don’t open your door to strangers. In the last two weeks, there have been burglaries and other incidents. And investigators Scott Arnold and David McMahan spent part of yesterday in the community looking for leads. They believe as many as two people are responsible, one of whom is a white male who wore a ball cap and rode in a white S-10 pickup truck. Among the crimes were home and church burglaries on the Mountain Springs Road and a home burglary on nearby Wolfstake Church Road. In the home burglary on Mountain Springs, the homeowner saw and heard someone try to break thru his door and then run to the white truck. It’s believed the truck is the same in an incident on Country Junction Road when a man knocked on the door and claimed he was there to make home repairs. McMahan says no one in that home ordered such work, and the Sheriff’s Office believes the man was attempting to case the home out for a burglary.
