Ramey: “We have a very strong council”

Three, first-year councilmen in Westminster bring with them strong personalities and strong opinions on how their city should progress.  That was so noted this morning in an interview with Brian Ramey, the city’s second-term mayor.  Ramey doesn’t always see eye to eye with council’s new faces, but he accepts the notion that sometimes an adjustment period is required for the wheels of city government to turn and turn more efficiently.  Ramey concedes that a lot of what he and the council heard last night from members of the public is food for thought, and he and his colleagues know they work for the public.  Some councilmen feel their critics treat them too harshly.  Danny Duncan said it often depends on what side of the table you sit—whether it’s the council side or the public’s side.  Looking out at some of those critics, Duncan challenged them to try to run and serve.  Westminster pays its part-time elected officials a small monthly sum.  Duncan says it’s $100 a month, before taxes.
