Proposed: taxpayer-backed bond issue

In front of the Oconee County councilmen next week will be a financial proposition to benefit the county’s one and only special tax district.  At its Tuesday meeting, the council will consider first reading of an ordinance to issue up to $1.5 million of taxpayer-backed general obligation bonds to benefit the Keowee Fire District, based in Keowee Key.  Language contained in the title of the ordinance is the following wording:  “…for the purpose of acquiring, constructing, equipping, or rehabilitating various capital projects in the Keowee Fire District….”
