Promise of new life for Westminster home of long ago

There’s promise of a new life for an old Westminster house, thanks to a magazine publication and the internet real estate craze. Mayor Brian Ramey, a builder by trade, has confirmed the sale of the former Dr. Simpson home on Mountain View Street to a Californian who, it is hoped, will renovate and see to it that the house is once again occupied. All you have to do is either walk or drive along Mountain View Street, the street of many of Westminster’s oldest and grandest-looking homes, and you get the feeling that you’re back in time by decades. Helping draw attention to the old Dr. Simpson home is the current issue of Country Living Magazine. It rated the house as one of 75 across the country that is right for renovation. Ramey sees the old house from a builder’s vantage point: “It’s a very solidly built home. It was built back in the days when they used the best lumber,” he says.
