Program to find and repair septic tanks

A new program to help Lake Keowee residents find and repair septic tanks.  The Lake Keowee Source Water Protection Team has implemented the Septic Tank Find and Fix Program with grant money from Duke Energy and South Carolina DHEC.  If you suspect you have an issue with your septic system, you may be eligible for financial help to offset the cost of repair or replacement.  A foul odor is not always the first sign to a mal-functioning system.  Other indicators include wastewater backing up in household drains and bright, green spongy grass on the drain field, especially during dry weather.  If your system isn’t working properly, you, your neighbors, the environment, and the lake are at risk.  To apply for help or learn more, Lake Keowee residents on both the Oconee and Pickens shorelines may visit www.lakekeoweewatershed.org or call 864/605-1895.
