Prescribed burns today in adjoining states

Overall, the sun will shine today, but there likely will be sections of the sky covered by smoke.  Two prescribed burns are scheduled today in these parts of both South Carolina and Georgia.  The Andrew Pickens Ranger District of the Sumter National Forest announces a 505-acre prescribed burn off the Brasstown Road.  Smoke from that burn is likely to be visible from Westminster, Walhalla and Toccoa, Georgia.  Threatened and endangered species benefit, along with wildlife and a lowering of the fuels that make wildfire possible.  Word has also been received of a separate, 400-acre burn today off Georgia 441 at Shirley Grove.
