Preliminary OK to zoning change, two neighbors protest

The Seneca mayor and council gave the first of two required readings last night for a zoning change south of the railroad tracks to allow for a new home development. But one councilman who did not raise his hand, Dana Moore, says he’ll take the time before the final ordinance reading to further evaluate the complaints of a couple who live near the four acres involved. After last night’s vote, Moore made reference to neighbor Bill Foster’s complaint that “33 or 34 homes in a one block area” are too many. West Union’s Season Builders wants to construct small houses at ES 7th and S. Townville streets. Bill Foster and his wife Jane are worried about increased traffic and the impact of a small home development in a neighborhood known for its large homes on large lots.
