Pre-trial motion heard in case against Oconee schools

An attorney representing the Oconee School District, Wilson Sheldon, moved in court today to dismiss a damage suit that alleges the district failed to properly care for a West-Oak High School student who, according to the pleadings in the case, suffered a delayed reaction after a car accident in 2015 near Seneca. The accident occurred in the parking lot of a restaurant as the student and a friend stopped on their way from the career center back to the high school. Judge Lawton McIntosh told both parties he will give them a decision later. The student is identified in the lawsuit as Jane Doe. Plaintiff’s attorney Keith Denny claims that after his client complained of dizziness back at the high school, she was seated in a chair, but fell out of that chair and hit her head on a concrete floor. Denny told McIntosh: “You take extra care with children.”
